First time to eat there. If you need to be treated like a king, or queen, then just don't go. If you're ok with being treated as "Welcomed" then definitely go. A small place, in a small town, with great homemade food, and wonderful pies. Service was perfect, food came to us fast, even though it was extremely busy. If you need perfection, stay away. If you like home town good, then make the drive. We will definitely be back, and it's an hour away for us.

A "destination restaurant" is one you're willing to drive 30 miles (or even 300) to get to because the quality is THAT GOOD and the folks are trying THAT HARD to make it worth your time, effort, and (low) expense. Cooky's is a destination restaurant. And I'm destined to return there soon!

Cooky's Cafe in Golden City is a great locally owned Cafe for good home cooked food, especially. especially the Beef Bresket, Susie Q's & their pies. It's very easy to get too, just take Hwy 71N. from Carthage & turn right onto State Rd. 126E stay on it for 11 miles & you'll arrive downtown Golden City, it's on the right side next to the Post Office, very inexpensive pricewise.......

Decisions. Decisions.

What is a "destination restaurant"?

Got the ham sandwich and lemon pie for there and ham and brisket for latter. Meat great as usual and the service is always good. Pie filling on the lemon pie good, but banana, not so much. Crusts on both not as good as in the good ole days.

Cooky's serves ample portions of homemade chow that you can't beat anywhere... and at ridiculously low prices. Let's say, the night before, you and a couple friends dropped a couple Benjamins on over-priced steaks in "the big city". You walk into Cooky's and the menu screams you can get three pieces (white!) of chicken for, what, $8.99 including two sides... and salad... and warm bread with real butter. You're thinking, I wish to high heaven I had been here last night, too. The chicken (two *keels* and a wing!) are as good as your momma ever wished to make. Tablemates, order the combo of ham and brisket and both are delishuss!

Well, visit Cooky's Cafe in Golden City, Missouri on Sunday afternoon and you'll see for yourself.

One word "Pie" . The best place for pie. Specially around pie day March 14. They have a very large "home made" selection to choose from. You can buy by the slice or the whole thing

Did I mention pie? There are more pies in Cooky's chiller case(s) than there are tables in the whole cafe, no exaggeration.
